Chris took Carter to see the firetrucks. Maybe he will grow up to be a firemen just like his dad!

Oh Christmas Tree
Last week we decided it was time to go cut down our christmas tree. Chris's family needed to go get their tree as well so Bonnie and Nate came with us. So we bundled Carter up for his first outdoor winter adventure.
We got to our spot and started looking for two perfect christmas tree's. It didn't take long to realize that we had chosen a bad spot! It seemed that all the good tree's had already been found by everyone else, but nothing could stop our determination. We kept going further and further to find the our perfect christmas trees.
After about an hour or so we finally found them. The only problem is that Bonnie and Nates "perfect" tree happened to be 18 feet tall! They had a permit for up to a 20 foot tree but before we had left they wouldn't get a tree taller than 12 feet. That is why we didn't bring more help or a trailer. Anyway, being the determined people we are we (two girls, a 10 year old, and Chris) thought we could handle carrying a 10 foot tree, a 18 foot tree, and a 6month old baby over a mile through the mountain terrain to our truck (that didn't have a trailer.) So that's what we did! How we did it is we would all lift the big tree and carry it as far as we could before our arm would fall off. Then we would set it down and two of us would walk back and get the smaller tree and carry it past were we dropped the big tree, and then come back to the big tree and then we would start again. It was really cold so I tried to hold Carter in my coat as long as possible but it just wasn't helping us get very far, so we put him in his little back pack for the last little bit and the poor boy was so tired that he kept dozing off and his poor head would slowly droop to the side of the back pack. He was such a good sport about it. He didn't cry the whole time. I don't know how long it took us to get that tree out! It felt like forever. Then when we finally made it to the truck, the next challenge started. We had to fit both those tree's in the truck:) Well long after the moon and the stars had come out we finally had the trees loaded on our truck and we headed home. It was all worth it though, we love our tree's and we have another great Christmas memory

How to entertain Carter
Sometimes we have to be really creative to keep Carter entertained.
Tonight Carter was getting really bored watching me fold laundry. He kept trying to look into the dryer. I decided that it wouldn't hurt to let him get in, so I helped him in and he LOVED IT! His eyes were so big and he just went crazy trying to touch everything and discover this new place, and when I would say his name he would look at me with a big smile , giggle then go back to discovering the dryer. It was so cute!

The Mighty Hunters
Yesterday Chris and I went hunting for deerlies. We got up at before dawn and headed up the mountain. Carter stayed home with his Grandma Tanner. We hiked and hiked and hiked and hiked. We found a lot of good spots and just watched. After over three hours of hiking and watching we didn't find a single track. At about 11 am we decided that there were no deer in this forest so we went back to the truck to shed some layers , eat some food, and then make a new plan. When we got to the truck we discovered that the truck we had locked required a seperate key than the ignition key to unlock it and we did not have that key! After over and hour of trying to break in we decided it was time to give up and call Chris's mom to bring us the missing key. When Chris's mom got there we were sitting there talking to her. Chris turned around and couldn't believe what he saw....two doe's standing on the other side of the truck just looking at us! One was a small doe and the other a fawn. Even though Chris's tag allows him to shoot doe's Chris didn't shoot these ones for a couple reasons. One they were just a little too close to the road and two they were very small. We wouldn't of hardly got any meat off of them and that is whole point of hunting. So we just sat there looking at them. That was enough to convince us that there was indeed deer in this forest. So we continued to hike in search of them, but with no success. We didn't see another deer all day, but it was a beautiful day and we had a great time together, and I got a great workout! It's a miracle that I can even walk today:)
This is Chris staring at the deer.
Here we are waiting for a deer to come offer itself to us!

A sticky situation!
Last week I canned a bushel of peaches and a bushel of pears. I had done a little canning last year but not with a baby. It was a lot more difficult! It took me two whole days, I finally finished at 12:30 at night. My kitchen was such a mess, my shoes stuck to the floor and everything was disorganized and sticky. but I finished and it was worth it.
This is me and my helper.
This is the beautiful end product.

Time To Update
Right now Chris is still working at the plasma center and the Rigby Fire department. He is also taking an EMT class. As you can tell he's keeping pretty busy. On top of that it is fall his absolute favorite time of year because that means hunting season.
As for me I've just been enjoying being a mom and watching Carter grow. I am also glad that fall is here because maybe now I'll start cooking again!
Carter is growing and changing like crazy! Today I was letting him suck on my finger, which I don't usually do and to my suprise I felt something sticking out of his bottom gums...that's right Carter has already got his first tooth. I couldn't believe it! I wasn't even watching for signs of him teething because I thought it would be atleast another month before I had to worry about that. He has also been rolling over for over a month now! He laughs and grabs at everything. One funny thing about Carter is that not only does he grab things with his hands but he grabs things with his feet! Today he was playing with a plastic cup and he was holding it with his feet.

Carter Update!
Carter is growing up so fast! Some of the new things he has been doing are: laughing, chabbering, rolling to his side, grabbing his toes (he tries so hard to get them to his mouth but just can't seem to do it!) and our favorite is when we blow bubbles with our tongue he copies us and blows bubbles back.

Don't let me get bored!
So yesterday Carter and I were home all day! After a long hot day in the apartment we needed to do something to pass the time, at least I did! So I decided to introduce Carter into the joys of dressing up:) Chris knows how much I like to dress up so before Carter was born he made me promise I would never dress Carter up in a dress. So Carter and I found other things to dress him up in!
First I dressed him like a gangster, but I realized that I don't want to encourage the gangster lifestyle so I tried to think of something better for him to imitate.
So I dressed him up like a Cowboy! Still I didn't think that was good enough. There had to be someone that I wanted my little boy to grow up to be someday......
So I dressed him up like his Dad! I couldn't think of anything better that he could be when he grows up!

Introducing Carter!
Carter finally decided to come to our family on Tuesday May 19th at 11:50 pm. He wieghed 8 lbs 11 oz. Yeah he was definetly a big baby! We haven't decided what color of hair he has yet, it seems to be a little of everything. So far both Chris and I just love having him in our home. He is so good he only wakes up every four hours to eat at night then goes right back to sleep. In the day he is content just laying on the floor and watching the world around him. He makes the most adorable faces, I just sit and watch him all day! I'm sure we will have more pictures coming!

I don't delight in fattness!
Many of you have wanted to see a picture of me and my pregnantness:) Well I'm finally going to give in and post one! Thats all you get! This one was taken a little over a month ago in our last apartment. I wanted to illastrate how hard it was to get to bed:) I would show you a more recent picture but in the ninth month pregnancy simply is not cute anymore and I haven't liked a single picture taken recently! If this stubborn child of mine ever decides to come then maybe I won't have to have anymore "pregnant" pictures!

St. George Trip
Chris and I saved up our pennies and took a little road trip to St. George
We thought it would be a nice warm get-away to break up the cold December weather we had been living in...but as you can see the snow followed us there and let's just say that St. George is not ment to have snow!
But we got to see palm trees covered in snow and our good friends get married and that just isn't something we get to see everyday!
